Intel® Teach Program Courses

The Intel® Teach Program offers teachers proven professional development supporting 21st century skills.

Essentials Course

Participant receive an extensive professional development training to promote the effective use of technology in the classroom.  It incorporates the use of the Internet, web design and student projects.

Intel Elements Online Course
Using specific classroom scenarios, teachers explore characteristics and benefits of Project- Based Learning (PBL). Throughout the course, teachers consider their own teaching practice as they follow a teacher new to project-based learning who discusses strategies with a mentor teacher. Planning and project design modules guide teachers through organizing the curriculum, the classroom, and students for successful 21st century projects. The assessment module demonstrates strategies for assessing students’ 21st century skills throughout an open-ended project. The course offers opportunities to apply the PBL concepts with action planning exercises.
 
Intel Teach Thinking with Technology
Thinking with Technology builds on effective technology integration skills, where teachers use free online tools to support the development and assessment of their students' higher-order thinking skills. This modular course provides face-to-face, hands-on experiences with unique online thinking tools that engage students and help them to communicate their understanding of complex concepts. Each tool features an online workspace where students create and save visual representations of their thinking.

Intel® Teach Leadership Forum

The forum offers principals, superintendents, and curriculum directors an opportunity to develop a personalized action plan to lead change in their schools.

Teaching and Learning with Graphic Organizers

Incorporate visual learning strategies in the classroom using graphic organizer programs.  Create standards-based lessons and activity templates that  focus on reading, writing, science, and social studies, or create your own. Inspiration/Kidspiration used upon request

APT Plus Logo

APTPlus: Instructional Media to Enhance Learning

Learn to search over 4000 educational videos, key concept video clips, still images, teacher guides, lesson plans and interactive online assessments correlated to state curriculum standards.

 

Microsoft Word

Create professional-looking letters, memos and reports after learning important word processing skills like keying and editing text, formatting features, using writing tools to check spelling and grammar, manipulate page setup, saving and printing.  Advanced users will create newsletters, brochures and web pages or even learn to mail merges after learning to use headers and footer, columns, hyperlinks, graphics, tables, templates and wizards.

 

Microsoft Excel

Perform mathematical and scientific calculations effortlessly after learning the basics of using an electronic workbook.  Excel features explored are entering data and formulas, sorting data, formatting and creating charts and graphs.

 

Microsoft PowerPoint
Produce professional presentations and handouts by learning to create slides, insert text, graphics, movies and sounds,  Enhance your slide show by adding animations, transitions, timings, narrations, hyperlinks and action buttons or by saving it for the Internet.

 

Microsoft Publisher

Become a master of desktop publishing by learning to use design templates and wizards to create postcards, flyers, brochures, newsletters, calendars, invitations, greeting cards and web sites.  You can also start from scratch by adding text and graphics to a blank page.

 

Web Design for the Classroom

Use your creativity in color, text, images and styles to produce useful and attractive web pages.  Learn the basics of good web design.  It's easier than you think!

 

Imaging in the Classroom 

Learn to setup and use cameras for exciting learning activities like scavenger hunts.  Integrate photography into print publications, storybooks, photo albums, and portfolios to support the curriculum.  Free resources available.

 

Using the Internet

Participants will learn to effectively surf the worldwide web and other features of the Internet. Additional aspects of the class include net terms and etiquette, identification of URL components, use of search engines, management of Favorites, file and application download, and use of webmail.

Technology In Motion-Basic Skills

Participants become familiar with  Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), file management, file types and the Internet to create a technology-enhanced activity.  This workshop consists of hands-on tasks and is well-suited for individuals with little or no computer background. This class is recommended prior to Intel Essentials training.

Participants will be introduced to the state web portal that provides free, valuable online resources including courses of study, lesson plans, web links, educational articles, events and a personal workspace. The Alabama Course of Study will be highlighted.

Participants will be introduced to this statewide resource available to all Alabama citizens. Participants will discover how to use the encyclopedias, atlases, journals, magazines, images, and other resources for research.

Participants will be introduced to this web portal that provides free, high-quality Internet content, lesson plans and web links all tied to national standards in each of the subject areas. This is best presented if divided into separate sessions for secondary and elementary or separated by subject matter.

Web 2. 0 Tools in the Classroom

This workshop is designed to support participants in exploring the read-write web and many effective tools that can be used in the classroom. Separate workshops are available to cover exploration and implementation of the tools listed below:

  • Google Docs & Tools

  • Cell phones for social networking and sharing files

  • Social Networking (sites, sharing, messages)

Effective use of 21st Century Equipment & Tools to Enhance Instruction

Do you have equipment available but need a refresher on use with instruction? Let us help you design strategies and activities to enhance classroom instruction. We provide training on a variety of interactive white board products and response systems.
